The Wedding Workshop

How we work Portfolio Not just brides Ready to wear Testimonials Studio

Consultation

We usually allow an hour for your initial consultation. Try on as many samples as you wish to see what styles and shapes suit you best. We will advise where changes can be made to enhance your figure and styling. We also look at colours and shades of fabrics against your skin tone as well as sourcing from our vast fabric library and recommend those suitable for your gown.

Design

At the end of the consultation an idea of your dress will start to form. We will produce a set of complimentary sketches of the gown for you to take home and reflect on, along with swatches of your chosen fabrics. Along With the sketch we will include an approximate quote, which includes all fabrics, fittings and alterations for you to have the dress of your dreams.

Measurements

Once the design details have all been confirmed and you are happy to go ahead we take a thorough set of measurements. This is to enable us to create a pattern for your gown. Please take this as the opportunity to discuss any known weight change. We also take a deposit and discuss our terms and conditions in detail - please feel free to ask for a copy beforehand.

Toile

The toile is a mock up of your dress, made to your specific measurements. It is used to check the cut and fit of your gown. You may need one or two toile fits to ensure a perfect fit to your dress before we cut into the actual fabric.

Fittings

Once you have approved the fit of your toile we make any adjustments to the pattern and your dress is then made up to fit stage in your chosen fabrics. It normally takes three fittings before your gown is completed. All trimmings and embellishments are approved by you before being added to the gown. We recommend having your shoes for the first dress fit if possible.

Your dress

Your gown is usually completed approximately a month before the wedding date. We do recommend an extra fitting the week of your wedding to enable us to make any final minor adjustments to your dress before the big day.

We will pack your gown in either a dress bag or a box which is a suitable size for hand luggage for those getting married abroad.
