Do you charge for a consultation?
No, we don’t charge for your initial consultation and we provide you with a complimentary sketch at your first visit.
How long does a consultation usually take?
An initial visit to us will usually take between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes. We like you to be relaxed to concentrate fully on designing your dress.
Is there any parking nearby?
Parking is limited, there is a pay and display car park a few shops down. There are also 1.5 or 3 hour long spaces at Waitrose nearby. If you are visiting us on a Saturday, there is a free car park located off Chandos Road.
What are your prices?
A bespoke dress starts at £1,500, inclusive of fabrics and fittings. As the dress is made for you, there are no alteration charges. If you are working towards a specific budget please let us know so we can recommend suitable materials.
What should I bring to my appointment?
You do not need anything; however we recommend wearing a strapless bra, and bringing along a pair of shoes with a similar heel to what you may wear on your wedding day.
I’m losing weight, how will this affect my dress?
If you are loosing weight, then please tell us at the time of booking, and we will agree on a later date to start fitting your dress. Once the dress is cut out of the silks we prefer not to do extensive alterations as this may affect the final design.
I am pregnant, can I still get a dress made?
Yes! We can design a dress to suit you, and your bump, that will allow you to be comfortable. This means fitting the dress much closer to the wedding date and designing the dress so it could be altered easily.
Do you make bridesmaids and mother of the bride outfits?
We do. Please contact us to arrange a consultation to discuss your ideas. We love to co-ordinate your bridal party with recommending fabrics and colours which will compliment your wedding dress. We have even been known to make the odd dog coat.
What size are your sample dresses?
Our sample dresses vary from a size 8 to a size 16, with the majority between 10 and 14.
Can I bring my family and friends to my appointments?
Of course! We love meeting your friends and family. We recommend no more than 4 guests to be comfortable and not overwhelmed by conflicting opinions.
I don’t have any ideas of what I want, do I need to know the style of dress before I come for a consultation?
It helps, but is not essential. We have plenty of dresses to look at and try on for inspiration. Pinterest is a great place to start and once you have started trying on dresses, it is a lot easier. We will recommend fabrics and shapes that will suit your style of wedding and personality.
How long does it take to make a dress?
A year before your wedding is the perfect timing to start discussing ideas and designing you dress. You can book your wedding dress with us up to 18 months before your wedding, however we recommend we start making your dress 6 months beforehand. If your wedding is less than 6 months away, don’t panic! We can most likely still make you your dream dress. Just give a quick call to discuss.
Do you alter bridal dresses brought from other stores?
Yes we do have an alteration service. We ask that you visit us for a consultation where we can discuss what needs to be done, and we can give a quote.
Can I change the design during the dress being made?
As the dress is made in stages, changes are able to be made throughout the process. We will toile all of these changes as once the dress has been made in the decided fabrics, design changes can be difficult. If there are any dramatic changes from the original design there may be a charge but we will keep this to a minimum as much as possible.
CAN YOU MAKE A DRESS FROM A DESIGN I HAVE ALREADY, OR WITH MATERIAL I SUPPLY?
Yes, of course we can. Just call us to arrange when is best to pop in with your design or fabrics and we can work together to create your vision.
What if I have to postpone my wedding because of Coronavirus?
If your wedding is postponed due to Covid-19, we will proceed with your dress up to final dress stage, including all payments. It will then be held in secure storage by ourselves until 4-6 weeks prior to your new wedding date. Where we will refit the dress and make any adjustments to fit, free of charge, as long as no major* weight change has occurred.
This applies to bespoke bridal wear only
