Wedding day styles for Mature Brides

Here at The Wedding Workshop we are often called and at the other end of the phone is a rather embarrassed or nervous bride who is unsure about where to start because she “isn’t a young bride”.

We are always doing our best to be as inclusive as possible, whether that be to accommodate brides who are from different cultures, celebrate different religions, their sexual orientation or their age.

Understanding that each bride wants to have the wedding day that suits her and their partner is fundamental to our practices.

Whether that is getting married on a beach with just yourselves and officiant or a big family gathering at a country house, there is no, one size fits all

For the more mature brides, there is often a sense of dread of walking in to a bridal boutique and trying on dresses with a young bride in the same dress in the adjoining fitting room. For that reason, they sometimes put off trying on dresses or even knowing where to start.

We are here to tell you, there is a solution! Why not come to a boutique, where you have sole use of the premises - therefore no embarrassing moments, and enjoy a chat about your day, your style and your ideas. We welcome a close friend or two to join you in this process, as we all know, the opinion of some of our nearest and dearest is important to our happiness.

Once we have an understanding of what you are looking for, we come up with a range of ideas or try on some shapes/styles that are similar to those discussed. Sourcing fabrics and looking over the little details is always a joy and we encourage all our brides to become as involved with this process as they want.

Working with mature brides is always a pleasure. We love hearing about your journey with your partner and designing a dress or wedding outfit that will make you 100% your best self and completely comfortable on your big day!

We understand your needs are not the same as a young bride and can use body regulating materials such as Silk, as well as designing the dress to be worn on another occasion such as a cruise or black tie event.

Often we are asked to make a coloured wedding dress such as silver, champagne or blue. It is important that the dress is still Bridal, but without looking too much like a traditional wedding dress. This also usually means we are designing the dress with sleeves and extra support to help make you feel supported.

Wherever you are in your quest to find an amazing dress

We can’t wait to welcome you to our studio!
